Curriculum

At Maple Tree, we believe that the curriculum is a powerful tool that promotes a love of learning, a willingness to explore and the time to have fun. We use the National Curriculum as a starting point for a wide and varied learning experience for our children. However, rather than the subjects driving the curriculum, it’s the needs of the children that determine the emphasis.

It is important that children learn what’s in the new curriculum, but we know that children need more than this. Balancing their needs with statutory curriculum is a challenge, but instead of the two acting in opposition we ensure the content of the curriculum meets the needs of children and fulfils the necessary requirements.

We enrich it through our strong ethos based on respect for ourselves and others, equality and a sense of wonder at the world we live in. We are committed to providing quality and excellence through an exciting, stimulating environment that stretches and develops the child as a whole and provide an education which will develop social skills and encourage children to become more active citizens within the school community and beyond.
