Welcome to Juniper!

The children in Juniper class and I have had a brilliant start to the year. I have high hopes for all the children in Juniper. They know they are going to have to work super hard this year and are already rising to the challenge.  Perseverance is the key to mastering anything and the children are keen to be masters!

We are very excited about the year ahead and have many interesting topics planned. For the autumn term our topic is called “Stone Age to Iron Age”. The children will focus on the various periods in the early history of Britain. So far we have learnt about the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods. We have created some amazing art and D.T too. Our English is all taught through our topic so we are currently reading a story called Stone Age Boy to help us with our writing.

Our focus at the start of the year in Maths is on Place Value and understanding what each digit represents; the building blocks to helping children understand more complex mathematical concepts.

Where possible, our Science is linked to our topic so we are currently making shadow puppets. This links to our key texts and features of play scripts in English. Later on in the term we will learn about Rocks and Soils. We have many other exciting Science units planned for the year.

If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to come and talk to us either briefly before school or after school (when we have more time).
