Meet Our Governors
Cath Bainbridge - Staff Governor (Headteacher)
I am the proud Head of Maple Tree Primary.
I have been a governor of Maple Tree since I started my job here as Deputy Head in September 2015. The meetings are interesting and I am proud to be part of a team who care so passionately about the school and making a difference to the lives of all of our children.

I also sit on the School Admission, School Transport and Exclusion Appeals Panels for Central Beds Council.
Thorold Guy - Parent Governor (Chair of the Development Committee, Vice Chair of the Governing Body

Cllr Caroline Maudlin - Local Authority Governor
I am one of the Central Bedfordshire Council Ward Members for Beeston, Blunham, Fallowfield & Sandy. As well as being elected into local government I work for Virgin Atlantic Airways as a Flight Service Manager and runs my own business manufacturing and selling 'Simply Gone' a moss & algae killer for hard surfaces. In my limited spare time I love walking my dogs, riding my motorbikes, skiing & playing golf, plus raising money for Charity which has included several annual theatre productions with West End performers and recently a Rickshaw Run in India.
Clarice Champion - Staff Governor
I have been a staff governor for the past three years and I feel this voluntary role gives me a wider perspective of the work of the school and is a unique opportunity for me to develop a broader understanding of leadership and management. I am proud of the fact that I played a part in the recruiting of our current Headteacher and Deputy. I particularly enjoy being involved with setting targets for student achievement and making sure the curriculum is balanced.
Kim Varley - Co-opted Governor
As School Manager I have been fortunate enough to become a co-opted member of the Governing body. I am looking forward to working with Governors who, like me, are enthusiastic about shaping the future of our school to ensure the best education possible for all our pupils.
Carly Mowbray - Associate Governor
My name is Carly Mowbray. I'm a new Governor to school this year. I recently retired from work to look after my two children with SEND and want to offer my knowledge of change project management to Maple Tree during this time of transition. I have a particular interest in maths and special needs and am an active parent on the PTA. I hope to meet and speak to more parents as the year progresses.
Jo Cleary - Parent Governor
I have two sons who are currently in years 2 and 4 at Maple Tree Lower School. I worked as an HR professional for many years and I have previously gained experience as a Governor at Laburnum Lower School.Over the past few years, I have volunteered my time on a weekly basis at Maple Tree. As a volunteer, I thoroughly enjoy interacting with the children and helping them with their reading and other learning activities.
In my previous Governor role I was part of the Standards and Curriculum Committee, Pay Committee and the Headteacher Appraisal.
As a new Maple Tree Governor I am keen to add value to the Maple Tree Governing Body to make the right decisions to provide the best outcome for children at Maple Tree Lower School and their journey through the education system within Sandy.
Andy King - Parent Governor
Having spent a couple of years helping to run Sandy Pre-School, I only joined Maple Tree as a governor this year. I have worked in IT at Tesco for over 20 years, currently as a Technology Programme Manager. It's a job that has taken me all over the world, including to Thailand where I met my wife Anchalee, who also worked for Tesco, but in Bangkok! We have two young sons at the school, and my hope for them and all the children at Maple Tree is that we can inspire them to reach their full potential.
