Pupil Parliament

At Maple Tree Primary School, we actively promote leadership opportunities for children to develop valuable communication and organisation skills. We believe that providing children with key roles of responsibility is paramount to their development and learning experience.

Our Pupil Parliament is a well-respected body within the school and consists of children from all classes in Key Stage 1 and 2. At the start of the new school year in September, the children are elected in a democratic vote by their peers.

Our Pupil Parliament meets regularly to discuss topics, issues and initiatives that affect them and their learning. Actions from each meeting are shared with the rest of the school on a regular basis.  Children relish the opportunity to become a greater part of school life and enjoy making a difference.

The children consider whole school issues and discuss them in class, which then feeds back into the Pupil Parliament. They also share ideas and decisions from the Pupil Parliament with their class. Decisions made within the Pupil Parliament can, and do, have a real impact on the rest of the school.

Our Pupil Parliament, through listening to children in their class, decides which charities we will support throughout the year. They then organise and run events to raise money for the charity. At Maple Tree we have supported BBC Children in Need and Red Nose Day, to name a few.

Our Pupil Parliament Representatives are:

Freddie, Emily, Ezra, Imogen, James, Harper, Mauro, Oliwia, Georgia, Torben, Lottie, Ennis, Brooke and Charlie.
